The guesthouse is designed as a practical base for travelers exploring East Greenland, rooted in local life rather than luxury. A stay here is closely connected to the rhythm of the town and the surrounding Arctic landscape.
During winter, snowmobile tours offer an efficient and immersive way to travel across frozen terrain and sea ice. Guided by locals with deep knowledge of conditions and routes, these tours provide insight into both the landscape and everyday Arctic mobility. Routes vary depending on season and ice safety.
Our locally guided boat tours provide access to the vast fjord systems, icebergs and coastal landscapes surrounding Ittoqqortoormiit. Tours are shaped by weather, ice conditions and local knowledge, ensuring safe and flexible experiences. Wildlife, ice formations and the scale of the landscape are always central to the journey.
ITT Guesthouse provides local cruise services including coordination, guiding and onshore activities. We regularly support cruise ships with local guides onboard or ashore, ensuring accurate local knowledge and smooth operations. Services are carried out in close cooperation with the community.

Mette Pike Barselajsen
Founder & Owner
Born and raised in Ittoqqortoormiit, Mette is the founder of ITT Guesthouse and has worked with local tourism for more than a decade across East Greenland. She leads the guesthouse with a strong focus on community collaboration, responsible tourism and sharing everyday Arctic life with visitors.
Bella Barselajsen
Operations Manager
Bella has been part of the team from the beginning, starting by assisting her mother and gradually taking on full responsibility for daily operations. During the summer season, she also manages cruise ship services and coordinates guest handling in close cooperation with local partners.
Åge Pike Barselajsen
Head Guide & Local Partner
Åge is the primary guide for ITT Guesthouse, leading boat tours, snowmobile trips and land-based experiences. As a recreational hunter and WWF Polar Patrol employee, he brings deep knowledge of the landscape, wildlife and local traditions, and plays a key role in local dinners and cruise ship guiding.
